Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group access areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
